# Battery Conservation

If Zello Friends & Family is draining your device's battery, try implementing the following steps:
- Use a WiFi connection instead of cellular when possible.
- Change your [status](https://support.zello.com/hc/en-us/articles/18198375207821-Understanding-Statuses?hsLang=en) to **Offline** while not actively using Zello.
- If you're using an Android device with an external PTT button, use Zello while your screen is off ([more information here](https://support.zello.com/hc/en-us/articles/230745247-Using-Zello-While-Screen-Is-Off-Android?hsLang=en)).
- Increase **Keep alive interval** from the advanced settings menu (Android only, [more information here](https://support.zello.com/hc/en-us/articles/27111213951373-Advanced-Settings-Android?hsLang=en)).
