# Disabling Auto-Start (Android)
This article is written for: ❌ Zello Work ✅ Zello Friends & Family
**This article only applies to Android users.**
To prevent Zello from automatically opening when you turn on your device or when you receive messages, disable the auto-start feature by following these steps:
1\. Tap the **vertical dots icon **in the top right corner of the screen.
2\. Select **Options**.
3\. Select **Behavior**.
4\. Toggle off the **Start Zello when phone powers on **option.
Also, make sure you sign out of Zello when you wish to shut down the app. To sign out of Zello:
1\. Tap the **vertical dots icon **in the top right corner of the screen.
2\. Select **Sign out**.
