# Message Delays

Zello supports asynchronous messaging, so messages can still be sent even when the sender or recipient has lost their connection. Zello uses icons to represent these instances, which are explained in detail below.
### Icon Meanings
- Android
- When a message is **sent successfully but not received**, a **hollow arrow icon **appears: 
While a message is **waiting to send**, an **upward arrow on a horizontal line **appears:
- iOS
- The same **upward arrow icon** appears when messages are **sent successfully but not received **and when messages are **waiting to send**:
